Kristin Lawton is the Director of Communications at Prosperity Now, where she leads the public relations and online communications for the organization, including media relations; Prosperity Now’s website, www.prosperitynow.org, and other sites under Prosperity Now’s purview; and social marketing and social media efforts.
Since joining Prosperity Now in 2005, Ms. Lawton has led a number of major communication undertakings, including the public release of the 2012 Assets & Opportunity Scorecard and the redesign and launch of Prosperity Now's previous website, www.cfed.org in 2010. She also launched Prosperity Now’s social media strategy and led Prosperity Now’s outreach for a major charitable giving competition by a national retailer where Prosperity Now was a finalist; led and executed the planning of Prosperity Now’s 30th Anniversary Gala; and directed the communications efforts for the 2010 Assets Learning Conference. Additionally, Ms. Lawton has led the media relations efforts for Prosperity Now and our partners in national campaigns and initiatives.
Ms. Lawton previously worked at Strat@comm, a leading public relations/public affairs firm in Washington, DC where she assisted her clients in all facets of communications including media relations, grassroots communications and special events. Before that, she worked at NBC Newschannel and in the press department for the Joe Lieberman for President Campaign.
Ms. Lawton is a graduate of Furman University in Greenville, S.C. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Communication Studies and Political Science.
